John Crowell

John Crowell is the Senior Director of Programs at People Helping People, helping ensure PHP’s programs work together to meet the changing needs of individuals, families, youth, and seniors throughout the community. He works alongside PHP’s program teams to strengthen services, solve challenges, and make sure people can find support that considers the whole of their lives—not simply one immediate need.

Service has been part of John’s life for as long as he can remember. Raised by parents deeply committed to serving people and their community, John followed a similar path. He spent many years working with the YMCA before first becoming involved with PHP as a volunteer and member of the Youth Coalition. That connection eventually brought him onto the PHP team, where he now helps guide the programs he once supported from the community side.

A father of three boys, John is also an avid soccer player and coach. Whether he is leading a team at PHP or coaching from the sidelines, he believes in helping people recognize what they bring to the team, working together, and creating opportunities for everyone to grow.

And when soccer and three boys leave room for anything else, there’s always Star Wars—a fitting favorite for someone who believes pretty strongly in the power of hope, a good team, and choosing the light side.
