If you like golf, money, or both, you’ll love the Miracles Happen Golf Tournament sponsored by the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott as a benefit for People Helping People on September 19th.

Tournament greens fees are $125 per individual and $400 per 4-man team but according to Mike Hendrick, General Manager of the host SYV Marriott, it’s a small investment. “Those attending will not only be treated to a great round of golf at the Alisal River Course in a four-man scramble format but will also be able to compete for great cash prizes in the longest drive, putting, and closest to the pin contests. In addition, Vreeland Ford is sponsoring a hole-in one car prize and valuable raffle tickets will be paid to golfers landing in fifteen and twenty-five foot circles around pins on par 3 holes.”

New this year to the tournament, is the Great Golf Ball Drop contest worth up to $1,000 to the winner. Hendrick said that Golf Ball drop presents another opportunity for golfers, non-golfers, and those who just can’t attend to participate and give back to a charity that helps so many in the Santa Ynez Valley and Los Alamos.

Up to 1,000 balls (depending on the number purchased) will be dropped from 30 feet onto the course above a regulation size hole. If the numbered ball coinciding with your ticket falls into the hole you can win up to $1,000. Closest to the pin is worth up to $650 and farthest from the pin up to $250.

Numbered tickets for the golf ball drop, starting at $10, are now on sale at www.syvphp.org/events-golf or by calling 686-0295. Discounts for the purchase of multiple ball numbers are available and you need not be present to win although spectators are encouraged to view the drop at 5:30 PM from the River Grille Patio.

Net proceeds from the Miracles Happen Golf Tournament, including those from the golf ball drop, will be used by People Helping People to support the provision of health care to children in the Santa Ynez and Los Alamos Valleys whose families cannot afford to pay for such care. Last year PHP furnished health care services locally valued at $248,000, including donated care.
