Food
Groceries are available from PHP in Solvang at Mission Santa Ines and in Los Alamos at St. Anthony’s Church every other Thursday year round in order to help meet a family’s nutritional needs. Program eligibility is based upon income guidelines for federal poverty level established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Income levels depend upon size of the family. The quantity of food provided is also based upon family size. Food is derived from canned and dry goods purchased from the Santa Barbara County Foodbank, produce donated by the Foodbank, USDA donations, and local donations.
- More than 280,000 pounds of food were distributed to 350 qualified families in 2010-11
- It takes 2,000 volunteer hours to operate the food program
