Set for June 29, 30, and July 1, 2012, this 3rd annual event allows participants to choose from a 30 or 50 mile route each day that leads them through the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley and covers both flat terrain and rolling hills past regionally and nationally recognized wineries and ranches. There is a fully-catered SAG stop every 10 miles.  This is a go-at-your-own pace ride for cyclists of all levels of experience. Riders will have the choice of a one-day ride on Saturday, June 30 or three-days of riding, Friday through Sunday, June 29-July 1. Three day riders return each night to Midland School in Los Olivos to enjoy an evening of fabulous food, live music, team photos and an opportunity to register for the Wine Country Bike Trek in 2013. Saturday riders also participate in Saturday evening’s festivities.  Three day riders may choose to camp at Midland school (showers and toilets available) or make other overnight arrangements. There is breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and a BBQ lunch on Sunday.

Last year, five Bike Trek participants raised in excess of $750 in pledges each to join the “Winners Circle.” These riders were treated to a luncheon at the gorgeous Sogno del Fiore Vineyard, and were entered into a drawing for two donated road bikes. Gene Holetich was the overall fundraising winner with more than $1,200 raised to help PHP.

Bike Trek participants ride to support PHP’s programs to feed the hungry with over 280,000 pounds of groceries each year; provide shelter to prevent homelessness; prevent domestic violence; furnish counseling, medical and dental care for the uninsured; and offer at risk teens an after school youth program including homework assistance, recreational activities, and leadership opportunities.
