Vino de Sueños, “Wine of Dreams,” is the wine brand of PHP and a small group of premium Santa Barbara County vintners. The purpose: to raise funds to make a difference in the lives of vineyard and farm workers who are at the very heart of the County’s agriculture, vineyard and wine businesses.
On November 1, 2008, the first Vino de Sueños wines were released at a celebration party attended by 150 and hosted by the inaugural group of winemakers from Alma Rosa, Buttonwood, Clos Pepé, Feliz Noché, Foxen, Longoria, and Presidio. The tasting party was complete with music and appetizers and also included sales of the unique wines and an auction of the original art works reproduced on each of the unique Vino de Sueños wine labels. Donor artists were: Ariane Aumont, Darby Holden, Christina Locascio, Lily Nathan, Rise Ochsner, Karina Puente, and Seyburn Zorthian.
In 2011 , the event was once again an unqualified success with a capacity crowd and nineteen new Vino De Sueños wines and artists. The event grossed more than $70,000 with over 100 cases of wine sold and several silent auction items attracting lots of bidding action.
The 2011 participating wineries included: Alma Rosa, Andrew Murray, Au Bon Climat, Buttonwood, Curtis, Fiddlehead, Fontes & Phillips, Foxen, Kalyra, Longoria, Makor, Quail Crossing, Qupé, Rideau, Riverbench, Sanford, Standing Sun, Stolpman and Vogelzang.
The 2011 participating artists included: Zoe Nathan, Christina LoCascio, Luis Ramirez, Ann McGee, Reds Regan, Suzi Trubitz, Kari Crist, Darby Holden, Zoe Ann Fischer, Michelle Griffoul, Suzan Hamilton Todd, Jim Farnum, Karina Puente, Seyburn Zorthian, Kenda Norris, Renee Kelleher, Nancy Yaki, Melody Owens and Darrell Longley.
The Vino de Sueños event and sales of the Vino de Sueños wines are a fundraiser to benefit vineyard and farm workers through the auspices of People Helping People (PHP). PHP is a unique multi-program non-profit organization which helps disadvantaged families and individuals in the Santa Ynez and Los Alamos Valleys by providing a wide range of services “Under 1 Roof.”
The 2012 Vino de Sueños promises to be even better with new wines, new art, and new auction items. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 10th. For more information and ticket purchases (September 1st) visit the Vino de Sueños web site at: vinodesuenos.com.
