Annual Santa Ynez Valley Marriott Miracles Happen Golf Tournament Returns

Mike Hendrick, General Manager of the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott Hotel, has announced that the Marriott will once again sponsor a fundraising golf tournament in 2016. The purpose of the tournament has been to raise funds to support the provision of health care to children in the Santa Ynez and Los Alamos Valleys whose families cannot afford to obtain needed care.

The 4th Annual Miracles Happen Tournament will be held at the Alisal River course on Friday, September 23rd. Tournament sign-in begins at 10:30 AM with tee-off at 12 Noon.

Mike Hendrick said that, “Marriott hotels have had a long tradition of supporting the needs of the communities they live and work in. All over the world Marriott associates are working together to help communities serve those in need.”

According to Hendrick, The Miracle’s Happen Tournament sold out last year and as a result, donated $10,000 to support children’s health care services. This year the Marriott has set a donation goal of $15,000. Hendrick added that, “(W)e are reaching out to the community that has supported us over the last 30 years in hopes that they will now help us to give back to children and families in need.

The Marriott has chosen the non-profit, Santa Ynez Valley People Helping People (PHP), to be the beneficiary of the golf tournament. PHP was chosen as the primary local charity that assists children and their families of limited financial resources obtain needed medical, dental, and counseling services for free or at low cost. Last year, PHP furnished health care services valued at $210,000 (including donated care) to local residents.

Hendrick said that registration is currently open for the tournament and that “fees are about the lowest you will see for a competition with the type of prize money that we offer.” Individual tournament fees are $125 per person and $400 for a foursome. Tournament fees include 18 holes of golf, golf shirt, balls and tees, BBQ dinner, at least one “win a new car hole in one,” and “close” to the pin raffle prizes. Players will also be eligible for cash team awards and be able to enter longest drive, closest to the pin, and putting contests. The tournament offers up to $1,000 in cash prizes. The Marriott’s famous taco stand, Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company, and Ascendant Spirits will also be on hand.

“On Friday, September 23rd 2016, I’m asking for your support as an individual or as a company to help the SYV Marriott in making a sizable contribution to People Helping People,” said Hendrick. “If we all give a little, the reward will be great.”
